We headed up to White River with some of our family for our first ever sledding trip. We had sun, pretty good temperature weather, but a cold wind.
The snow was very packed and just bordering the icy stage.
Ready to hit the slope

First run with Dad

As you can see the hill was VERY slick

Hudson was begging to go by himself so on his 3rd ride down we let him.......not realizing how fast and far he would go. He was on his belly holding on like a champ. Really, it would've been better if he had let go and come off the sled, but he kept going right into this:

Peter was at the bottom of the hill and took off after him, but the snow was such that if you pushed down too hard your leg would go about 8 inches in. I was at the top of the hill, i think i remember swearing and taking off after them. Adrenaline is a crazy thing isn't it? Uncle Isaac too was headed down. I think we all fell a few times. Peter got to Hudson and pulled him out of the river. Our next fear was hypothermia so back to the car we went for heat, blankets an damage control. Really, after about a minute Hudson was over it and just wanted to eat some fruit snacks. For me however, the panic lingers as all the "what if's" race through my mind.
Huge gratitude to our God prevails. He has had his hand on this boy from the beginning and continues to protect him. We are so thankful we get to celebrate his 3rd year of life. Hopefully our next sledding trip won't be AS memorable! Cheers to Hudson!
