As Jen and I were thinking through our planning week we thought that it might be nice to throw in some fun activities to keep the blood flowing. One of those idea's was to take the team and go pick up garbage in our neighborhood park. So on Wednesday afternoon, after another mind-numbing, what are we doing here, what is God doing here, how are we going to meet students and tell them about Christ and how come students don't really want to meet Christ and maybe we should just shake the dust of our sandals and leave Kaunas forever but we can't because it is the middle of a very mild winter and so none of us are wearing sandals, type of day we decided to head on out into the not very winter like winter we are experiencing in Kaunas and pick up trash. As mentioned in one of our previous blogs our park also doubles as a disco/make-out facility for the entire city of Kaunas. As you would imagine this tends to accumulate some level of trash. The team spent an hour going through the park and picking up all sorts of interesting things. It was, in the end, a very humbling/refreshing thing to do. Humbling because we got the chance to serve our host city in a very practical way by picking up their garbage. Refreshing because we got to look at the park when we were done and see just a tiny little bit of God's amazing creation restored from the trash heap it was. And, we had a good time doing it.
Thanks for all the praying for our planning. We really feel that God led our time and were excited to see how it will all work out in the next couple of months. We are leaving tomorrow for our mid-year stint briefing conference and are really excited for the fellowship, teaching and worship that we will get to experience with all the other stinter's from across Europe.
Peter and Jen for the Kaunas Kleenup Krew, because misspelling things on purpose is edgy and if you look at that picture the first thing that pops into my mind is edgy.

What a neat idea! I'm glad you were able to get out and do something like that... sometimes it takes those moments to freshen our perspective. I'll continue to be praying for you guys! Thanks for keeping up updated! You are loved and thought of and prayed for - what you are doing there is NOT for no reason - even cleaning up the park.
Hey Peter you look wholly tall and sharon and I look... well wholly small. Hey! That rhymed!
